Problem
On a recent sales call to the research department
of a local university we discovered a very interesting situation
regarding their sanitation chemical program. It seems some 7
years or so ago a sanitation chemical vendor had set up a chemical
feed system on the rack washer. The animal care manager explained
to us that she was there when the chemical dispensing system
was installed but had never seen or heard from the chemical
vendor except when she called to place a chemical order. The
story in a nutshell was that the chemical vendor had installed
chemical feed equipment but never came back to make sure it
was operating correctly. As the animal care manager admitted,
the university did not use a great deal of chemical, however,
they still had sanitation needs and concerns like all other
research facilities. Over the years the university had encountered
various problems with the washer and chemical program but did
not receive the attention necessary to rectify the situation.
